211756 2004-01-31 07:44:00 Ho people
AVG version 6.0.576, update 365 dated 30.1.04, running on Win XP Pro.
Since the update (twice) it runs, stops, tells me it has struck a problem and recommends contacting Microsoft. Anyone else had this problem.
Thanks.

211757 2004-01-31 08:12:00 AVG is at update 572....365 was a LONG time ago.

Had a colleague ring me yesterday re the update number.
It was showing the right date and wrong number (365 not 57x). While I was on the phone he rebooted it again and for some reason it decided to show the right update file version (571 I think he was at).

211758 2004-01-31 09:25:00 in the grisoft.. avg you will find a file "version.avg" rename this file and then launch avg this may solve your problem. This file somtimes gets corrupted.
BTW Avg will recreate this file when you lauch the virus scanner.

211759 2004-01-31 21:59:00 Ho Gfather and Beama.
Appreciate your words.
Renamed the file version.avg. Ran program again. Result = 365. Downloaded the latest update. Result is exactly the same - virus update no. 365.
I have sent off a message to their help for advice. Thanks again.

211760 2004-01-31 22:35:00 Alternatively you could uninstall it completely and re-download from AVG incl latest definition file.

211761 2004-01-31 23:52:00 Thanks Jester. I'll do that later today. After all these years I remain naive enough to think that I could seek the developer's help on a free program. Of course, they gave me the two fingers. I would probably do the same. Scouse (83)
