211889 2004-02-01 09:53:00 Add one for MozillaFirebird
Been using it for alomst 16 months now!

Here's a quick story you might like:
I'd been securing down the Family's PC after catching the Blaster Virus.
As part of it, I convinced my parents to use MozillaThunderbird (The Email Client).
They liked it, and the built-in Spam filter.. It looked "like Outlook Express only with prettier icons" to quote my Father.

Then over the Christmas break (some 2-3 months later) while they were on Holiday I installed Linux on their PC and made it the default OS.. Imported their emails (MozillaFire/Thunderbird work in Windows and Linux) and bookmarks and left them with MozillaFirebird and MozillaThunderbird (The two most used apps on the PC).

My Mum freaked out when she say it and started screaming "Whats all this Mozilla crap we've got... I know we use the Thunder thingy for email, but whats this about Firebird?".

I politely explained she'd been using MozillaFirebird for the last 2-3 months, I'd just renamed the Desktop shortcut and changed the Icon to the Internet Explorer one....

Its so similar she never knew the difference...!

211891 2004-02-03 06:22:00 Can someone explain to me how to change the skin/theme of firebird?

Also how to install the java plugin, because I tried that and it wanted to re-install the whole sun java virtual machine - whereas I had already installed sun java for Internet Explorer.

Have a look in Firebird's Tools, Options, Themes. ;-)

Have a look at Mozilla Firebird's FAQ pages (texturizer.net). Lots of good tips there. ;-)

211896 2004-02-03 09:58:00 This is going to be unpopular but I tried Opera and Mozilla and kept running into problems with both, either unstability or having to fire up IE cos the other two couldn't access some sites. I've given up on them, more trouble than they were worth to me and I find IE is the best for me. Danger (287)
211897 2004-02-03 18:05:00 For me, anything that is made by Microsoft needs to be questioned. My choice is Operam which I went into years and years ago. Internet Explorer is just too basic. Opera is rich with features, and it tells you what is happening. In IE, I feel a little out of the loop. Mouse gestures are another of my favourites. They're so ingenius! It's unique to Opera, and that would probably put me off any other browser.

I've heard a lot about Mozilla, but I've never had any reason to move, so why should I? All the sites I go to work, it's far more stable and has frequent updates.

211898 2004-02-03 21:41:00 I see noone has mentioned Netscape. I have used it for at least 8 years and have no reason to switch. I am currently using 7.1 and it is great.
