212075 2004-02-01 07:59:00 Does anyone know if Xandros is any better at hardware compatibility than the latest versions of Mandrake 9.2 or Fedora. I would like to get my speedtouch usb modem, canon printer & scanner to work as easily as I can in Windows. phil.b (4456)
212076 2004-02-01 09:44:00 If you're wanting better hardware support, then grab yourself a nice shiny new 2.6.1 kernel :-)

Xandros will likely just use the same kernel as Fedora/Mandrake, but perhaps with one or two minor patches.

Im pretty sure if you run up2date you can downoad a 2.6 kernel package.

All the Linux Drivers are (usually) included in the kernel, so a newer kernel means newer drivers right :-)

My saa7134-based TV-Tuner card only likes my 2.6 kernel, I couldnt get the drivers I downloaded for 2.4.22 to work...

Hope this helps
