| 211847 | 2004-01-31 07:58:00 | Hi, My sound has totally gone from my computer. My speakers are turned on and plugged in correctly and were working fine before my sound disappeared so I'm assuming they're still working. There is no volume control on my taskbar. When I try to play something in Winamp I get the Windows error message: "MMSYSTEM002 A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system." I have tried using the available Windows Help but it has been no help. I have a Yamaha OPL3-SAX sound card and when I go to Control Panel, System, Device Manager, Sound, video and game controllers; and double clik on it it says: This device is either not present, not working properly or does not have all the drivers installed. I tried to update the device drivers for it but to no avail. My computer is useless without sound! Please help! |

Then after switching off remove the sound card from the computer, then re-boot. Windows will now have no sound card at all to get knotted up about. Then re-insert the sound card, re-boot and let Windows re-detect the card. You will probably then have to use the CD with the soundcard drivers (assuming you have one) and say " Have disk" to load the drivers, and see how that goes. |
