| 212414 | 2004-02-02 20:26:00 | My desktop sometimes tries to dial up the Internet without my asking it to. I have run Norton AV which tells me my machine is clean. Any ideas? How do I find out which program(s) is trying to access the Net? | TekRat (5216) | ||
| 212415 | 2004-02-02 21:24:00 | Hey TakRat, welcome to PressF1 :) It sounds like spyware on your PC. Download and install AdAware (fileforum.betanews.com) or Spybot (www.umich.edu) or both if you like. Then once installed, run the update in the program (just like you would with antivirus software) then run the scan. |

Firewall, Antivirus programs, Windows updates are things which might be trying to connect. If using XP try this Go to ControlPanel/Network Connections. Click Advanced at the top and then Dial Up Preferences. Uncheck "Enable Autodial from Location" |
