| 212230 | 2004-02-03 02:38:00 | Anyway I managed to unhide my hidden partitions again. Partition Magic saved me again. But unfortunately to get rid of the Bot Magic I had to delete the win98 partition :O Such a lost cause... Anyway is there some logical steps I can follow to get a copy of 98 and XP going properly together. I've already installed XP and it would be a little trouble re-installing that again. Thanks for the help so far! |

| 212231 | 2004-02-08 03:53:00 | Ok I got it all going. Problem was solved by doing this: XP,98,XP. Existing partition of xp, then install win98, then install Xp on a fresh partition. I do this because then the new install of XP detects the existing Win98. Then boot into the new xp partition and fix up the boot.ini so it can boot into all three partitions. Strangely my boot.ini looks like this now: timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINDOW S [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windoze XP Pro - Good copy" /fastdetect multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINDOWS="Windoze XP Pro - recovery only" /fastdetect C:\ = "Windoze 98 SE" All that was needed for win98 to work was [b]C:\ = "windoze98" I suppose installing linux would solve all this too. Lilo is extremely intelligent :) Thanks for all the help guys :) much appreciated! |
