212854 2004-02-04 12:07:00 Im wanting to download all kde*.rpm files from:

ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/arklinux/dockyard/RPMS/ (ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/arklinux/dockyard/RPMS/)

What's the best way to go about only downloading the rpms? I'll then run a test install on the Family's PC, get the missing dep's, and then install them :-)

So are there any apps out there that will automatically add all files in a web/ftp dir to be downloaded, and then allow me to even delete the ones I dont want?

Many thanks

212855 2004-02-04 12:39:00 I usually just use konqueror to drag & drop from the site. Most other graphical ftp clients will also work.

Otherwise, a number of command line apps can work with wildcards, eg:

ncftpget 'ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/arklinux/dockyard/RPMS/kde*.rpm'

or wget, curl, etc. Just make sure you wrap the URL in quotes so the * gets passed to the app, rather than being expanded by the shell.

212857 2004-02-04 13:00:00 Oh its ftp?

I thought that was a http url... odd.. nm...

Firebird simply displays file-names as a hyperlink, not as a draggable icon.
Its late... I guess Im not thinking the clearest there :p

Thanks though

212858 2004-02-04 19:52:00 Have you tried apt? There are a few graphical front ends for it, Synaptic being one- www.nongnu.org mark.p (383)
212859 2004-02-04 20:10:00 Yes, it comes with Ark Linux, I had a quick look around last night too see if I could add this URL as a mirror...

Will have a better look today now Im not quite so tired :-)

Wallpaper arrived, thanks :-)

212860 2004-02-05 01:02:00 The mget command of proper FTP is intended for this. (It pays to toggle the prompt option so you don't have to say "yes" for each. ;-)) Graham L (2)
212861 2004-02-05 05:17:00 Cheers for that, its good to know :-)

Come in handy a few times already today :D

I think my problem was I thought it was http, not ftp (The other window i had open said http).

Cheers
