| 212577 | 2004-02-03 10:30:00 | Occasionally when playing a 3d game, it will suddenly stutter and lag A LOT, I mean it takes 3 seconds to do one frame. It seems to do it in every game I play, eg Motocross Madness, Unreal 2, Rally Championship. I was just playing Unreal 2, and it went bad. I turned on an extra fan I have near my video card, and after a few minutes the game actually ran smoothly again, I don't know if thats what fixed it. Could it be that my card is getting too hot? It's a geforce 4 mx420, and has just a heatsink and no fan. I have all the latest drivers for everything. | tango (2697) | ||

Could it be that my card is getting too hot? Sounds to me like that's the problem if it came right after cooling it down a bit ... J :D |

| 212579 | 2004-02-03 16:01:00 | I had the same problem with my MX 420, it also just had a heatsink on it. What I did was buy one of these (www.dse.co.nz), but make sure first that there are holes in your graphics card (where the heatsink is now) before you dismantle and try to put the VGA chipset cooler on in it's place. cheers chiefnz |
