2004-02-03 04:36:00 Recently, I have not been able to log on to msn messenger and hotmail itself, as well as a few other sites which require logging in- e.g. xtra self service and the ncea site. I don't think it is a cookie-related problem because I've tried allowing all cookies without success. The problem only started after I came back from a lan, so I assume there is some setting that must of been changed but I don't know which. Any help or ideas would be appreciated, thank you. vennelli (5218)
2004-02-03 04:59:00 Try, whilst you are on IE : Tools/Internet options/Advanced/Restore Defaults. Then restart. zqwerty (97)

2004-02-03 06:06:00 Ok I hate to tell you this but I ran into this problem which started on my Win2k Sys and migrated to my 98SE partition. I re-installed Win2k after repairing IE6 and after trying installing all updates and security settings that did not change the behaviour and nothing fixed the problem. After about a week of almost never being able to log into a secure site on either o/s I reinstalled the modem and that fixed the problem. zqwerty (97)
2004-02-03 06:12:00 Try reinstalling IE & see if that help, if not, post back here stu140103 (137)
2004-02-03 06:46:00 Hey thanks guys, I got everything working. I re-installed IE6 but that didn't help too much (thanks for the suggestion though) and then i tried uninstalling and re-installing all the protocols and clients being used by the network card (in effect, reinstalling the modem) and that worked- once again thanks alot! ;) vennelli (5218)
2004-02-03 07:39:00 Reading this with interest, as my puter is stopping me going to some sites too, but would like to know, how do I uninstall and reinstall the modem, especially as after being fixed last time, it come back with a standard modem in the device manager, not the proper name that it used to have, and I don't really want to try and get at my case, let alone take it off to see what I have. Modem that is!!!! LOL supergran (108)
