you may have lots of registry problems try running Fix-It or norton utils first then defrag |

Try disabling your screensaver before trying defrag. Also pays to run Scandisk prior to defrag if you have not already.
A good utility to stop background programs running in order to run Scandisk and Defrag is EndItAll. You should find it with Google. ;-) |

I was unaware of the FAQ but found that I needed to disable Norton Internet security to do a defrag. |
