212998 2004-02-05 08:37:00 hi.

i downloaded freshui from freshdevices, however can't make any changes in the guest account. it comes up with an error, and all the boxes to check which things to change are greyed out. i can make changes in my account, the work account, my stster's account and my bros account, but not guest

i'm looking to put icons on the desktop, and remove everything from the start menu apart from log off (including all programs. i've put games and stuff in icons on the desktop) but i cant get it to work

i am thinking of deleting the real guest account, and making a substitute limited account if i cant find a solution

212999 2004-02-05 08:41:00 Yeh the guest account has mostly/all permission denied, thats why it works in your account. Best bet is to do what you said, uh, i dont think you'll be able to edit the registry (thats what freshui does) in an limited account, maybe if you make it full then do all the freshui ing then change back to limited, if that works.... I've had Fresh UI for some time but all of a sudden I found that it actually emtied all the folders I have in Favourites .

Removed the programme - restarted the computer and the folders were all back to normal .

Reinstalled UI and folders were empty again .

Any suggestions as to why that might be . Seems to be the only thing the programme has interfered with .

I have Windows 98Se

213003 2004-02-06 01:40:00 maybe in the "Covering your Tracks" you have accidentally changed a setting so that it deletes favourites maybe..or hides them MrBeef (342)

213005 2004-02-06 04:10:00 Just realised I'd forgotten to say that I only loose the contents of Favourite folders when I click the bit about "not having arrows on shortcuts" Haven't got the programme at the moment so can't remember it all. Think it's under Windows Interface? Iris (475)
