| 212927 | 2004-02-05 01:38:00 | Does anyone know of a reliable repairer or Palm hardware? I have a 505 with made digitizer syndrome, and I gather (hope) that it is a loose connection, which I understand a competent person should be able to repair quite easily (not butterfingers like me!) Can anyone please advise? Graham |

| 212928 | 2004-02-05 02:01:00 | There is no repair service for Palm PDAs in NZ or Australia as far as I know . The closest is/was Singapore . Basically they are not considered as a repairable item I gather . If the M505 is similar to the Palm Vx (and I believe the construction is similar) then they are glued together . Even getting into them is therefore a destructive task . Not sure what "made digitizer syndrome" is however . Possibly "mad"? If its returning crazy results when trying to enter via the digitizer, its usually a sign of a failed input pad, which means a whole new screen, which would be totally uneconomic even if you could get into it . . . Presently on my third Palm, but have moved to a PocketPC when the Vx developed memory problems . I really hope you can find a local repairer . . . just don't expect too much! |

| 212929 | 2004-02-05 02:45:00 | I think I've seen something in Australian PC about Palm service policy after guarantee . I think it is on an exchange basis for fixed price . If it's "openable", about the only thing which might be worth a try is unplugging/replugging the flat cable from the screen to the PCB . My TRGPro (probably equivalent to a Palm 3) has died and I am about to open it up again . After the first try, it worked just long enough to reload the programmes from its CF and set the alarms . :_| All this modern stuff isn't designed to be repaired . You can't just change all the valves . :D |
