212955 2004-02-05 05:06:00 My old Epson has died...it never was up to much anyway, so I need a new better one.
I dont want to spend much $200 perhaps $250, and I am aware that there is quite a difference in running costs as well.

What do people recommend?( and Where is a good place to purchase it?)

Thanks as alawys for your help :-)

212956 2004-02-05 06:56:00 This topic has been covered more than once recently in Press F1.

If you put *which printer* into the PF1 Search bar, you'll find plenty of suggestions from many members.

212958 2004-02-05 09:16:00 Have a look at the hp 5160. A very good price/quality/economical ratio With the photo cartridge it will print photos that are all but impossible to tell from a film format photo without having to spend a lot of money. gerrypics (323)
212959 2004-02-05 10:30:00 if you want a cheap one, go to smartPC in hamilton and buy a hewlett packard, about $80 with 2 new cartrigages.... I just buy new printers instead of cartrigages. hsv-b0y (5210)
212960 2004-02-05 19:06:00 having to shell out $80 for a new printer, just because 40ml of ink has run out is the problem.
I bought the canon s330 for $123 from the cheapest place on price spy, which incidentally was in Akd and postage included was still $100 cheaper than here in Chch! anyway, I'm not too sure if I can recommend it as it does, as a couple of people said in this (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) thread, clonk about for 30 secs or so every time I turn it on.
I find that to be annoying, my epsom colour 440 used to do that too, but the hp656c went straight in every time.
So I still haven't found the perfect printer yet after 3 trys
The s330 does print quicker than the others though.

I think I'd go for one of those scanner printer combos next time...

Oh yes, this (www.dealtime.com) seemed to be as good as I could get for recomendations...
