213819 2004-02-08 22:48:00 Recently, my IE current default Homepages has been changed to some other website and it greyed out in the option so that I couldn't change it at all.

I tried to use Regedit to get rid of it, but it has removed my rights to use Regedit as well ... so Regedit won't start.

Luckily I have a ghost backup but how to I stop this from happening again? ?:|

213820 2004-02-08 23:49:00 I have D/L'd from somewhere, it doesn't show a home page in the program, "Browser Hijack Blaster" - it is supposed to stop this. Do a search on Google.

Read FAQS 8b.

Use another browser, or change the security settings in IE. This URL is most informative - click here (hacker-eliminator.com).

(1) unlocking homepage setting
Have you installed a custom version of Internet Explorer and now find you can no longer change your HomePage setting ? here's how to fix it ! Click on "start", then "run". type in regedit then click on "ok". Expand the following folders ... HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Inte rnet Explorer\Control Panel. In the right hand pane find the value for "HomePage", double click on it and enter a 0 (zero) in the "value data" box. close the registry editor and you should now have re-enabled the option to change your homepage. (may require a re-boot for changes to take effect).
I have not used this, but looks OK
