213689 2004-02-08 04:44:00 A few days ago wilst "fiddling" with my OS/2 box I did something that upon restart caused the machine to have a "hiccup" and not load. No amount of coaxing using the built-in OS/2 recovery options or using various "commercial OS" boot disks with installable HPFS(OS/2 native file format) drivers could not access and remove the offending file causing the problem. Just decided to give it a rest for a few days till I calmed down ;). This arvo I threw my DamnSmallLinux CD in the cdrom drive, rebooted, mounted the Hdd, removed the offending file and now have my other "alternate OS" back up and running. Thank you Linus,OSS,Gnu and anyone else who knows the good uses Linux can be put to. PS- I do use that "other" OS starting with "W" on a regular basis but it was unable to assist in this delema (MS having pulled there HPFS driver, pinball.sys, from NT4 up)...............................No Nerds or Cuddly animals were hurt in this recovery. mark.p (383)
