214026 2004-02-10 04:40:00 I'm running and I'm finding it to be working perfect. Scrollbars where they should be just like normal.

I did a FULL CLEAN INSTALL wiped out all previous existencies of phoenix/firebird/firefox.

214027 2004-02-10 05:06:00 The new Windows installer is very good, adding shortcuts to the quicklaunch and desktop. This will help first-timers to Firefox (still want to type Firebird :p) to get it up and running. I also did a clean install, removing my old phoenix folder first as recommended by the developers. Just need some updated extensions/themes that are compatible with 0.8 now. Not sure how many are already available as the extension and theme website is overloaded at present.

I have also installed Firefox 0.8 on my Linux Fedora OS with no problems as again I did a clean install. :)

214028 2004-02-10 05:10:00 I have not yet had a look at this, but am wondering about it in the future.
and i have a question.

OK question if you do a clean install how does this get your bookmarks saved into new browser version? by uninstalling does that not wipe all existence of this prog? including bookmarks?

back them up or what????

With previous Window Firebirds, to uninstall the browser you merely deleted the Folder. Your bookmarks.html are stored in a separate folder found in XP under C:\Documents and Settings\{your_name}\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default {or user}\random8letters.slt. You will need to make a copy of the bookmarks.html and save it to the desktop first before deleting the whole Phoenix folder. Once you have Firefox installed, open up the browser and go Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > File > Import ... and then browse to the desktop where you had saved the copy of bookmarks.html. This way you have a clean install and all your bookmarks reinstated. :)

214030 2004-02-10 05:23:00 Oops - forgot to mention ....

Firefox will automatically detect and import your IE favourites, you don't need to manually import them yourself. :)

214031 2004-02-10 05:36:00 Well I have managed to break mine already. :p :D

As JM says a fresh install is highly recommended. I upgraded (just to see what happened) and it was fine until I re-enabled my previous skin and tabbrowser extensions then it spat the dummy and now won't play..... at all. :p

Also had no scrollbar as reported by another poster.

Going to uninstall, wipe out Firebird (after backing it up to another partition) and reinstall Firefox (nearly said Foxfire then :p). Hopefully the extensions will then work but if not I'll wait until they get updated. :-)

214033 2004-02-10 06:11:00 First of all backup your bookmarks.html like I described in a few posts above. Make sure Firebird is closed, then delete the complete Phoenix folder and the MozillaFirebird folder (wherever you put it - probably under C:\Program Files). Now run the Firefox installer again and then import the bookmarks from where you have saved them. Jen C (20)
214034 2004-02-10 07:10:00 Got it working properly now . :-)

Firstly I saved my bookmarks . html file to another location, uninstalled Firefox from Control Panel, deleted the Mozilla and Phoenix folders from Program Files and reinstalled Firefox .

Runs sweet as now and looks oh-so-nice and tiny with minimal screen real estate hogged . So far so good . :-)

<starts fiddling with customisations :D>

214035 2004-02-10 07:15:00 Thanks Jen,
Followed what you said and all done, damn pity I lost all my passwords though, that'll take some working out what a lot(most) of them were.Still I remembered the most important one.
Cheers
DD.
