214254 2004-02-10 05:14:00 Hi guys, well after last week's intrepid jpurney into the world of Linux I have finally managed to download Red Hat 9.

All I want to know is really... can I just plonk the CD in the drive and install 9 over 8.

Are there any things about Red Hat 9 which may cause you to not recommend installing it?

cheers

Yep, sure can. Personally if it were me I would do a fresh install but that's just me.

Bit late now I guess but out of curiosity why didn't you download Fedora instead of RH 9? I have upgraded from RH 9 to Fedora and it seems to be nicer, though I have to admit I didn't use RH 9 for a terribly long time.

214257 2004-02-10 05:29:00 I have used the upgrade option to go from Red Hat 8 to Red Hat 9 with no problems in the past. However, I would be tempted to install Fedora instead as it is the latest version (Fedora is actually the equivalent to Red Hat 10).

Did you want the Fedora CD's?

Post a disposible email addy (eg Hotmail) and I will contact you if you would like me to post you the Fedora CD's. Or if you have Jetstream, the ISO's are available on ftp://ftp.jetstreamgames.co.nz/fedora/1/i386/iso/
