| 214377 | 2004-02-12 06:41:00 | If you re-save a jpeg a couple of times the jpeg compression cuts out a fair bit of the quality, and reduces the filesize heaps. | PoWa (203) | ||

| 214380 | 2004-02-12 20:46:00 | Hi Everyone. I have been following this thread as I am interested in learning how to resize JPeg files. Your comment Ladybug that you did have a look at Jen C's reply but you think you might have been looking in the wrong place, is exactly the position I am in. I wonder Jen C if you could perhaps be kind enough to to elaborate a little further on your suggestion. I have gone to My Pictures, highlighted one and then right clicked on it. Nowhere can I find anything relating to resizing it as you you have suggested. Where are we going wrong. I am running XP home so we are okay there. Cheers Smithie |

Its the result of an add-in I think. Its not on my XP either. With any editing program, when you "save as" a .jpg there is an "options" that allows you to specify the quality. Lower quality = smaller size. I am surprised that none of your programs offer the option to change the quality, Irfanview always does. However, you may want to try www.moveinsoon.com ( [url) this [/url] its along the lines of what Jen was talking about? |

| 214382 | 2004-02-12 21:40:00 | Hi Godfather. Thanks for your reply. I do have programs that can alter the size of a photo, but was never sure if I was doing them the right way. However as usual you have been most helpful. Thanks Smithie |

If Jen has installed > software for a digicam, etc it could it be related to > that. ;-) Well that suprised me :O . I thought my right-click option was always a part of WinXP :p. However, a little investigation around my system shows that this option was from the Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP - Image Resizer (www.microsoft.com) (521 KB) that I have installed (but then forgot about) :8} If is a very nifty right-click option to have though, and is worth the download for this quick picture resize option. Sorry for causing confusion and meyhem folks. :_| |

| 214385 | 2004-02-22 09:07:00 | Hi I have downloaded the resizer link that godfather put in his thread - i guess this is free to download???? When i use it on a pic of about 181kb i use the one saying larger or something like that and it takes it to about 103 kb but I need to have it about 150kb. Someone else said as i save a jpeg each time it gets smaller this also worked but it would only get down so far and no further. Any more ideas ???? Thanks all so far!!!!! :) bug |

| 214386 | 2004-02-22 09:13:00 | You could try a bit of trial and error - by variously selecting a different compression percentage, until it gets to the data size you require. If you get too frustrated I'll gladly resize it for you... just attach it to an email to nopspam @ zu.co.nz |
