No, because whatever the problem is it is software related. Nero 6 was installed and working, on the same CD writer. Then Nero stopped working. To be precise it refuses to actually start-up. I don't get an error or anything when I try to burn because the app never actually loads. There's a delay of about 3 seconds after I go to launch the app then it comes back with the error message listed above. I don't believe the CD writer is involved in this equation at this point.

214132 2004-02-10 04:53:00 I had a similar problem with the V5 version, have not tried V6 as yet I cannot see any benifit.

In my case the problem was caused by two issues, one my fault and the other a known issue.

The first one was I disabled the nerocheck at start-up as it seems to preform some black magic with the ASPI layer... odly enough it was the ASPI layer at fault so I updated it and problem fixed.

The second problem was the buring rights issue which caused a number of similar funny error messages.

Cannot say if they will help you with V6 but you never know..

214133 2004-02-10 08:42:00 I too am having trouble with Nero and would appreciate some help. I have used V5 and then had to use an updated Nero Express because a new burner would not work with V5. Now I cannot install demo of V6 or uninstall Nero Express. Install/uninstall gets so far then box says "Error applying transforms. Verify that the transform paths are valid". What does this mean?

Any suggestions on how to progress with installing V6 would be appreciated.

214134 2004-02-10 09:24:00 Nero has cleaning tools to run for the Transform error.

214136 2004-02-11 20:03:00 Well the OLEUpdate did nothing for me and my German Nero tech support dude has gone silent on me. System Restore might work, but I really can't be bothered restoring so far back and losing other stuff as a result.

In desperation I finally installed an old, basic copy of Roxio Easy CD and it worked fine.

214137 2004-02-12 01:39:00 Interesting but I have found that Nero and Roxio are at times incompatible and cause problems.

Will be interested to see if you reach a solution

214138 2004-02-12 01:44:00 did you go through and remove any redundent reg entries by hand?

also there is a program that comes bundled(and installs without mention)with 3dmax(and a few other programs including the odd game) thats purpose is to stop teh program it comes with from being copied,in many cases it can complety disable either the burning software or the burner itself.

Spybot picks it up and identifies it as a problem but removing it always causes the main program not to work.

It also hangs around even when uninstalled.

I know its a longshot but you may have installed this with a program since the last time u used nero.

Can't remember the programs name off the top of my head but i do believe it started with C,ill see if it comes to me....

Copy protection maker covertly installs monitoring and CD-Rom copy prevention software on personal computers!!

Nasty little bugger

# Protects against unauthorized consumer copying of PC software sold through retail, distributor and reseller channels.
# Thwarts use of CD-recordable drives, re-mastering by professional pirates, and unauthorized Internet downloads.
# Boosts revenues, discourages copying and opens new markets.
# Increases retailer purchases of copy-protected titles and reduces store returns.
# Creates additional selling opportunities and effective customer support via enforced user-registration information.
# Incorporates anti-hacking technology that is effective against piracy.
# Easy to implement, compatible with standard hardware configurations and transparent to the consumer.
