215233 2004-02-13 14:59:00 Is there such thing as a wireless adsl?I know adsl is jetstream and is run by copper wire .I don't think there's such thing as a wireless adsl am i correct?
Wireless is wireless and adsl is adsl.Theres no such thing is a wireless adsl connection.

Whats the difference between adsl and dsl?
IF jet stream calls it adsl. What does the telstra clear cable connection call it?What about ultra? What is the name of the connection?

215234 2004-02-13 19:21:00 ADSL = Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line (Asynchronous in the nature of slower speeds upload than download)
DSL = Digital Subscriber Line (same speed in each direction)

The name describes a technology, NOT a product.

Its not a Telecom "name".
They call it Jetstream, thats a "name".
"Broadband" is a generic description.

Wireless can use similar technology and even call it the same, although its strictly not using a "Subscriber Line". But there is nothing stopping them using the same technology.

I think you have seen a advertisement for a Wireless ADSL router, Yes ? and wondering what this is...

The connection to this router between Your local exchange and you prem. is exactly the same as any other ADSL install - Liven your line, and connect the router to the ADSL Jackpoint. The difference being how the router connects / Talks to your PC(s) instead of connecting via USB or Ethernet which use's wires, the router has built on a 802.11b wireless LAN Access Point.
With Wireless LAN Cards installed on your PC it now works like any LAN Setup (though a little slower, but internet usage would not notice any degredation.)

215237 2004-02-14 21:27:00 Ok, you weren't thinking of an Wireless adsl router ;)

But more along the lines of a wireless broadband product wholesaled by BCL ?
Unfortunately I do not know much about this service to help, over to some one else, Sorry.

Maybe doing a search on http://idg.net.nz using BCL as a key word will turn up some helpfull results.
