214968 2004-02-12 22:10:00 Yes folks, I need your help. Doing an index for the PCW CDs keeps getting put on the back burner by other things so in the interest of getting it done I'm proposing a PressF1er open source project.

What I need is volunteers to do one CD each, starting with Dec/Jan 2002. Post your single-CD index here, in this format, one product entry per line:

Product; version (if available/appropriate); issue (Month YYYY)

Each contributor gets their choice of a PCW CD wallet or a PCW T-Shirt.

Post here staking your claim to an issue. First come first served. No queque jumping -- if someone puts their hand up for an issue it's theirs unless they say they cannot deliver and it goes up for grabs again.

No rush to get them done -- March CD is already done so this will go on the April CD. I'll also compile the result and post here (Excel format probably, or plain text) before then.

214972 2004-02-12 23:01:00 I'll do the first one then Dec/Jan 2002. I have some software which may speed this up and if so I can do earlier versions (to Feb 2001) if you want. parry (27)

Can you list the name of it please? I know I once downloaded something like that but can't for the life of me remember which one it is. :-(

I was thinking of using Advanced Disk Catalog which pulls in the directory structure but it all depends how the folders are named. It may not be any use and I may end up just copying and pasting into Excel.

I had a quick look at one and the product versions are not on many of them. I think the only way to know the versions for these is to hunt out a readme etc for each and Im not sure if I want to do go that far.

What would be nice though is perhaps a category and a brief description based on whatever you can copy and paste. Just seeing a product name doesnt always make you know what it does. :-)
