214863 2004-02-12 11:47:00 hi all,
I have got windows xp pro and RICOH cdwriter MP7240A model.
I have had it for 2years now. It was working fine till now. Since last 2 days i cant seem to burn any cdr's and i use Ricoh cdr's.

Error Message by NERO: medium speed error
Error Message by clone cd: writing to cd failed, medium error

But i can burn CDRW.
i have tried using nero by burning different types as well...like audio, data and copy cd on cdr's but it doesn't work.

But everything works with CDRW

Any ideas?

thank you

214864 2004-02-12 12:50:00 I'd say its a speed issue, trying to burn at a speed that the CD doesnt allow.

Try burning slower/faster and see what happens

Chill.

BTW - I have the same model in my Family's PC :-D

214865 2004-02-12 18:12:00 I have tried to burn at lower speeds . It still gives me da same error . my cdwriter speed is 24*10*40 . i have tried burning at 10x as well . same error .

Right now im burning some songs on cdrw at 10x and its working fine .

Weird .

Any more suggesstions . .

214866 2004-02-13 02:21:00 If you have burned a lot of CD's Venu the laser may be getting tired. If it deteriorates further it might be time to buy a replacement. They are cheap as chips now so it is not worth wasting time on a dud, especially if you start burning coasters.

You could always try cleaning the laser though, and see it that helps.

Cheers

214868 2004-02-13 02:37:00 I agree about the laser might be slowly dying but have you been using a different brand of cd-r recently? PoWa (203)
