| 214869 | 2004-02-12 11:03:00 | my msn messanger has stopped connecting. this has been going on for a few days now. it thinks for about a minute and then throws an error ".....password is incorrect or sing in name does not exist...... " I can log in to hotmail ok so my passport account is ok but its just msn messanger that wont go. MSN messanger version 4.7.2009 windows XP pro IHUG dial up |

| 214873 | 2004-02-12 11:40:00 | 2 different variations,msn6.1 is different to 4.7. The program he is reffering to is built into windows xp and lacks all the fluff and garbage of msn messenger. As to the not-signing-in problem,i have had at times needed to go back thru the motions of assinging my email to my passport in order to get it to work,in that case msn was telling me my log-in email didnt exsist,even though i had been using it for years and checked it via hotmail.com.... |

| 214874 | 2004-02-12 12:15:00 | hi i have just recently formatted my hard drive and on installation of win xp home i had the same version of Messenger and i had a similar problem too so i downloaded MSN Messenger version 6.1.0207 and when i tried to sign in i got the error that to many attempts with wrong password...and i had to reset my password and finally it worked. my conclusion:-may be a recent windows update may be causing the windows messenger not to work properly cause i downloaded the latest updates before using the messenger. If you're thinking its related to a windows patch or something try downloading another MSN Client, like Gaim: http://gaim.sf.net If it works, something's up with your PC. If it doesnt, either MSN is screwed (Im on ATM), or your passwords wrong Chill. |

Thus he is not using MSN but Windows Messenger - a clear difference. Which is why we need confirmation from the 'help... About' part of his Messenger. | 214878 | 2004-02-12 23:13:00 | my fault ( core dumped :-) ) yes it is windows messanger 4.7 and NOT MSN messanger. yes I have installed about 6 update to windows in the last week. I know of many other programs that will do what i want ( Gaim ) but I would like to fix what i have. |
