How many folk in at less 10 % of internet user?

215259 2004-02-17 07:17:00 True, not very many people use 5.5 (But keep in mind Win98 is still run on 30% of all PC's and that comes with IE 4).

The point here though is that the source code is already being used against Microsoft. Give it another month and who knows what people will be finding!!

Also, note how old IE 5.5 is.. And within a week of the source being available online, hackers have already found weaknesses.
You'd have thought by now it'd be pretty secure!!!

215260 2004-02-17 07:39:00 Just because software is "old" doesn't make it unusefull IE 5.x has been known to have vulnerabilities for a while, its not a new thing . You also have to look at the timing <conspiracy theory-force upgrades> mark.p (383)

215262 2004-02-17 08:38:00 Interesting. Chill in the comments was this- Access Start->Shutdown, then while holding CTRL-ALT-SHIFT, left click on CANCEL. This will kill Windows Explorer, leaving a system where you can only access the last application you used. Great for Internet Caffee's and libraries, since you cannot access the TaskBar, StartMenu, Desktop or anything else. Reminds me of BeOS without Tracker/Deskbar.

Unless you have a terminal open (or a scheduled wake up task), you wont be able to restart explorer, hence you'll be forced to reboot afterwards.

Any use for your Inet cafe?

215263 2004-02-17 08:54:00 That may be...

You can also hit Ctrl + Alt + Esc and go File
Run
explorer

Thanks :-)
