| 215155 | 2004-02-15 07:57:00 | Are having some success, had to reinstall IE5 which was current, so I could then install IE6. Then tried a fix suggested by "Davsdads" of creating the missing file. This changed the wording of the startup warning, so are getting closer. Bit reluctant to go deleting anything else without good cause. Re diagnostic software: I don't have the other anti spyware prog you suggested running. Definitely 98ME, unfortunately. If you know how I could see the autoexec.bat file, please tell me. |

| 215156 | 2004-02-15 08:12:00 | there is no such thing as 98ME ! did you try that last suggestion? I finally got with microsoft to find the correction. They told me that you have to disconnect any printers, scanners, modems (especially if you have cable) when you do your system restore and make sure that you remove any or all other antivirus programs before installing Norton 2002 on your system. The missing file is an internet file and if your plugged into the net through your modem when you do a system restore it omits that file during the restoration. It's the only way to get that error message to stop coming up. So , you'll need to disconnect all your external hookups and do another restore. thanks for responding back. I hope this helps you solve your problem. Thanks, Dave. |
