2013-10-14 08:17:00 | Many ISP's are offering seemingly cheap but unlimited data plans. Im aware that you get slower speeds overall but what can you expect on average? | Slankydudl (16687) | |
2013-10-14 08:31:00 | I expect it would depend a lot on the ISP in question. | Agent_24 (57) | |
2013-10-14 10:20:00 | Apparently Orcon are yet to enforce their fair-use policy. As somebody who's involved with that kind of thing now, I'd say that's a *bad* thing, coz there ARE people out there who do over 1TB a month, no lies, even on ADSL2+ (Not even VDSL2). However, as Agent_24 mentioned, it depends on the ISP. It's a moving target too....

2013-10-14 19:21:00 | Orcon shape P2P traffic during busy hours, other than that there's no difference really. And as Chill points out, they're yet to enforce their fair-use policy (and, thus far, have no need to, as the vast majority of the heavy use is P2P traffic that is shaped on-peak to avoid causing an issue). 1TB is not really that much data when you're talking national ISPs, especially when average use levels for residential is still somewhere south of 100GB. | inphinity (7274) | |
2013-10-14 19:49:00 | I drop by my mates place who's on the Orcon unlimited. During peak times he'll be pulling down via international HTTP somewhere around 300 -> 400KB/sec During peak times, I pull down 3MB/sec :D Orcon shape P2P traffic during busy hours, other than that there's no difference really.... 1TB is not really that much data when you're talking national ISPs, especially when average use levels for residential is still somewhere south of 100GB. They always shape P2P. Yeah AFAIK the "average" is approx 80GB? Still.... One user is using the bandwidth of 10 :p
