| 1333866 | 2013-03-26 05:21:00 | X-COM was just announced for iOS. One thing I love/hate with iOS, it's the first to get an app (yay) but when the app comes to other platforms it's an absolute joke and/or delayed so much it is going out of fashion and people have moved on or got alternatives. I am likely to pickup an Android phone of some description while I'm there as well (an iPhone is too damn expensive). That's probably a better idea, IMO iPads are play toys, no point spending more on a phone that actually does the same thing as an iPad. A decent spec android phone will do nicely and probably do it's phone job better than an iPhone. You can still play and have fun with the iOS side on the iPad. One reason why I do like cross platform compatibility, so you can actually use the best of both worlds. Sadly the corporate lot still try and lock you in with as much proprietary stuff as they can. |

We can dream :p I did consider the Nokia Lumia, but word on the street is that Windows 8 Mobile is having it's support dropped next year (must have flopped pretty hard). Now I have to work out what phones are cheap in the US, unfortunately I can only go to physical stores (which sucks) meaning that places like amazon are out of the question (not in the US long enough to have anything shipped to me really). |

Last rumours I heard were saying that W8 devices would actually get LTS and possibly Win9 - This was most specifically pointed at the Lumias, since M$ booted the last generation with the 7.x-8 upgrade. If you're over there I'd seriously look at getting a Lumia. There are a few M$ stores around, so you can go in and have a try. Good thing is no matter where you buy it's probably gonna be better than NZ pricing :D Good thing with android phones is you can network unlock them really easily. iOS based - not so easy. Dunno about WP, not enough of them around for me to have a crack at them. The US seems to be especially prevalent at locking their phones down. |

I think their idea for WP is to try and intergrate the OS's similar to Surface and the desktop version of Windows so they are effectively "one OS for all platforms" and hopefully can be upgraded as such. |

| 1333872 | 2013-03-26 22:07:00 | Apps are a big deal now days. When I tried a Lumia 920 there was no Spotify (there is now) no ANZ app and no good facebook app. It's a bit chicken and egg really. | Alex B (15479) | ||
| 1333873 | 2013-03-27 05:07:00 | IMHO I used the iPad Mini at the store, and a friends one as well, and it just didn't seem up to the job, in comparison to the Nexus 7 that I have, simple things like games didn't feel as smooth on the iPad Mini, oh and the iPad Mini has a 4:3 screen ratio, which means no full screen video in some cases, and is a reputable 'Feature'. As Chill has said that if you like to buy music go with iOS. | SanChippy (16951) | ||
