I think its time that the government sacked every person who has "leaked" government emails to other people "In error"

And they should name them as well and put them on Facebook so they wont be employed so easily anywhere else.

Its obvious that its an orchestrated campaign by labour supporters.

What do you think ?

If this happened in a private business what do you think would happen.

The latest one at EQC, they just happened to send the emails by mistake to a an insurance guy, not to you or me, or their mum to an insurance guy!

1334507 2013-03-29 10:12:00 Easy to rectify, as in other countries, if there is a change in government all the bureaucrats have to re apply for their positions, one cannot expect MP's to have everything at their finger tips. They rely on their bureaucratic staff and if one is opposed to their party they can create havoc. Arnie (6624)
1334508 2013-03-29 19:10:00 I think the people who have received the email by mistake who then leak it to the press or for ransom should be jailed for a very long time. This would stop other filth from doing it.
Mistakes happen and I dont blame the senders one little bit as one click sends the stuff on its way at the speed of light.

Besides why are staff not taught to save as .pdf when sending out documents?

if politicians were not dodgy types in general then there would be no need to leak stuff

1334510 2013-03-29 19:18:00 It does appear to be a deliberate ploy to embarass the government. If I were to receive an email not intended for me I would just delete it, not go racing to the media. You would think that Key and co should be expected to personaly check all emails before they are sent going by the rubbish presented on TV lately. CliveM (6007)

1334512 2013-03-29 21:56:00 This will end up biting the public in the arse - my prediction is that anyone who wants information from a government department in future will NOT be able to get it via email (because government departments ALWAYS overreact, and they will just ban external email for their staff) and the public will have to be satisfied with getting a snail-mail response days or weeks later. NZ Post will be happy with this, since their traditional revenue stream has been drying up for years.

It is very easy to put filters on outgoing mail to look for specific words, document types or content. Apparently the IT departments in these organisations aren't quite up to speed with this....

Alternatively, they could hire some staff who have a minimum of half a brain and the intelligence to copy/paste into a new document before emailing it.
