1473880 2020-12-22 01:54:00 Anyone had any experience with Chrome OS installations ?

As an experiment I attempted to install Chrome OS on a spare laptop using the method in the link below.

beebom.com

All went according to plan until the reboot, where no OS was found.
I had several attempts & got the same result each time.
It's an older laptop, but has the required hardware.
I had a look at the hard drive afterwards using gparted in linux.
There were multiple partitions all showing yellow flags.

Do a system restore on Linux.
You did back it up first right? Timeshift or something?

I never did anything like that....I just:

I formated the hard drive prior to install.
Could be part of the problem.

Being to old it may not work. Found the following page - Dont know if its anything related or not github.com

What is the CPU in the laptop ?

1473886 2020-12-22 20:14:00 Thats a good in depth article.
I'll read it some more, the answer is most likely in there somewhere.
The laptop is a Toshiba Satelite Pro L300
CPU is Intel Celeron 550 @2.0 GHz
Graphics are integrated.

I tried using the samus_recovery.bin for older CPUs but it wouldnt use it.
Kept asking for the rammus_recovery.bin

Maybe some text needs to be changed to accept it.

Also when installing I notice a mention of partition is not mounted, that may be another clue.

1473887 2020-12-22 20:20:00 Ive installed CloudReady / Neverware on a laptop , to make a Chromebook Clone

It was VERY easy to install as worked as is without issues . I'd recommend that instead of something hacked together :)
