Try comparing the numbers of EV fires againt Fossil vehicles cars on a percentage basis! It can happen spontaneously although perhaps not often. I recall an issue with Ford Cortinas that had a faulty fuel tank filler pipe that could leak and cause a fire. Also seen where modified cars catch fire after idiots ran fuel lines where they shouldn't have. These days there seems to be better quality control - except for in Teslas! The trend seems to be of Teslas catching fire. I haven't seen any horror stories of a Prius or Leaf etc randomly combusting. I'm still against EVs by the fact that they don't seem to solve anything. The mining for lithium etc is no more environmentally friendly than drilling for oil. A green solution to dealing with worn out batteries doesn't exist either. The power generation to charge EVs is not "green" or sustainable in most countries. I've also read the majority of air pollution comes from industry and commercial transport, shipping, airlines, NOT personal transport. So in that regard, it makes more sense to change those first. But so long as the corporations can convince you that pollution is YOUR fault somehow, they're happy to sell you the "solution" - of course! |
