1478023 2021-06-20 07:26:00 The Tesla at least isn't too bad. When I first got it, it was a bit distracting and had to learn to navigate the car UI. But after a while you sort of get used to it. The auto night mode shift that it has helps a lot, and the dark UI is nice and easy on the eyes.

I have a friend who is an auto electrician who has now repaired 2 Tesla's and has sworn never to work on another one due to the very substandard in his words build quality.

If the car had never been invented the world might have been totally knee deep in horse shite?

Ken

Ken :)

When I was living in Wellington in the 50s the milkman delivered the milk by horse and cart and he had a bag below the horse's tail to catch the shite. Horses, like most other animals, just shite wherever and whenever so it was easier to have a shite bag than stop to shovel it up.

It was great to watch the milk cart go past. The milkman would say "walk on" and the horse would walk for a short way and then stop and wait for the next "walk on." As the cart moved there was the loud clattering of the roller behind one of the rear wheels. When the cart was on a slope the cart would roll back when the horse stopped so the roller stopped the cart from rolling back any further.

1478025 2021-06-20 22:45:00 Yes, we had Clydesdale horses on our milk run here in Taradale, Napier for many years. Used to wake to the clip flop of his hooves at 2.30am every day. Very comforting sound. The milkman used to breed the Clydesdales on his farm in Guppy Rd.

If you read what Euro city streets were like before cars and trams , its a horror show.
Not just poop, but dead horses left on the streets . Some streets had Huge mounds of poop & trash .
Knee high boots were popular for this reason, and brown coloured overcoats .

Don't think so. That's a bit high tech for 'lil old Taradale in the 60's. I think he used a square mouth shovel ?

totally biased .
"going solar is now cheaper than paying for electricity from the Grid" . . . really??? . Lets see that work in the UK . Or Scotland
NZ allready imports coal for electricity . Go to EV & we need to burn one hell of alot of coal to charge up 4Million EV's (in NZ) .

ignores the country where cars are made .
ignores planes and container ships .
ignores other products made from oil pumped out of the ground (would be good to cut down on plastics though)

Wasn't totally the horses fault . You can train any animal to **** in certain areas, but horses in cities? Well sooner or later . . . .

Anyway the humans back then were emptying chamber pots out windows then .

And if they ran a generator off each wheel of their EV they could recharge the battery as they travelled and not need to use mains power at all . :D
