The GPU!!! The Graphics card, not cpu. Just adding - The only time the CPU concerns graphics is when you dont have a graphic Card. Real gamer wouldn't be seen dead with onboard graphics only :D

Sorry, typo GPU, but the Ryzen 5 2400G APU with AMD Radeon RX Vega 11 Graphics is what I have used for two years. Asus Monitor connected to Asus B450M-A Mobo HDMI. No Display Port on the Mobo.
The AMD Radeon Sapphire Nitro RX580 is really only used as home theatre to the Samsung Tele.

wainuitech..... I was pulled up about 4-5 year back here when I said I use onboard graphics and I was told the Mobo doesn't have onboard Graphics, GPU supplies graphics. That was when I had the 1GB EVGA GT210 card. and a 1600Ghz AMD CPU and I thought THAT was Greased lightening :D
I like my 2400G .... so it may well be a 3400G coming up in new rig. :)

1473714 2020-12-17 19:16:00 WHERE can I get the QVL for the ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS Motherboard? I want to know what RAM has been tested and is suitable. Mobo specs say Memory Max Speed is 4600MHz which I will probably never use or buy RAM of thatSpeed.
Considering buying the AMD Ryzen 5 3400G APU and the RAM speed for that is 2933MHz though 3200MHz can be used OC to get that speed. As I said, I cannot get my GSkill 2933MHz to run above 2400MHz or it BSOD's unstable.

But that board doesn't OC so cannot alter RAM Speed to 3200MHz.

It goes $22 over budget and no 750W-850W PSU chosen yet .... cost vary from $215-$290.... say $250.

1473719 2020-12-18 02:16:00 There is "currently" no discernible performance difference between NVMe on PCIe Gen 3 vs PCIe Gen 4 . Whilst the Gen 4 platform has theoretically higher speeds, there are very few (if any) NVMe products out there that can reach . . . let alone sustain those maximums . You also need to keep in mind that the max speeds for NVMe over Gen 4, really only apply to sequential reads and writes (so basically file copy operations) . So loading video into apps like Adobe Premier etc or loading games, will not really matter, because the amount and speed of your RAM (and vRAM for games) is more important and relevant for that kind of an operation - i . e . when you are editing or encoding video the more data in memory the faster it will run (that and your CPU of course) . . . for games it would be how much the GPU can pack into it's own memory - and given shader tech these days, the more modern titles (not to mention DLSS and RTX) help to reduce the amount of data that has to be swapped in and out of main memory as well as the GPU's memory .

Another "limiting" factor is the chipset of your motherboard:

For the B550
20x PCIe Gen 4 lanes
16x for Graphics
4x Chipset downlink

Then a choice of ONE of the following;
1 x4 NVMe (Gen 4) OR
2 SATA + x2 NVMe (Gen 4) OR
2 x2 NVMe Gen 4

Also the connectivity between the CPU and the B550 Chipset is limited to PCIe 3 . 0 (x4)



For X570 it's "slightly" better . . . kind of
20 PCIe Gen 4 lanes
16x for graphics
4x chipset downlink

Then a choice of ONE of the following;
1 x4 NVMe OR
2x SATA + 1 x2 NVMe (1 less than B550) OR
2x2 NVMe

The slightly better part of the X570 is that the connectivity between the CPU and chipset is PCIe Gen 4 .

The X570 also has a few more options in terms of the chipset PCIe lane availability and what can be connected to it .
