SWMBO, who does not do that herself, says it may be to dry their hair but I can't see how a towel wrapped around their head can dry their hair.:waughh: Apart from anything else it looks ridiculous. So why do they do it?:illogical |

Better hide it then . perhaps to indicate they just got out of the shower & their hair is still wet ? Why do men wear a scarf/do-rag(USA) or hanky(UK) on their head , on TV . :p |

You leave the towel around you hair, so that it can soak up the excess water from your hair, and you avoid wet furniture and clothing. As a bonus, leaving the towel on speeds drying. Towels soak up water a lot faster than air does, saving you a lot of drying time. |

| 1477501 | 2021-05-31 01:32:00 | Why do women wear a towel on their head?l I have never done this ever. My granddaughter had done, I said why...well she copied mum. Both had very long hair, and it takes ages to dry. It stops it dripping down your neck and back...and soaks up the excess drops. I bought granddaughter a hair dryer and she doesn't do the towel thing anymore. |

| 1477503 | 2021-05-31 09:03:00 | Both had very long hair, and it takes ages to dry. It stops it dripping down your neck and back...and soaks up the excess drops. I would have thought that you would dry your hair by rubbing it with a towel to get out the majority of the water and then just let it dry naturally - at least, that's what SWMBO does, and I do the same. And if you are in a hurry - after rubbing it with the towel - surely you would just get out the hair dryer. I would have thought that every woman has a hair dryer. And that's what my daughter does and she has long hair down past her shoulders and I have never heard her complain about it dripping down her neck and back, simply because her hair is not dripping. She rubs it dry first. So I still don't understand why women wear a towel on their head. I live in a household where we had three women - SWMBO and two daughters and none of them did that which is why I find it so perplexing. Is our family so different? |
