| 215689 | 2004-02-15 05:45:00 | Hiya, When i run the setup for active directory and try to join it to my main domain server which has been running for about a moth, i get an error saying that the domain i have chosen to join hasn't been registered. But i only use an internal domain name? Both machines are running windows 2000 Advanced Server. |

Anyway, last time I ran Primary and Secondary domain controllers was on NT server and quite a few years back. A quick Google™ search yields stacks of information - might be worth having a look there. |

| 215695 | 2004-02-16 04:50:00 | yes i can ping it and browse its shares. since it is internal i made the dns name thing main.nz and my main domain server is wws.main.nz. when i go though the active directory setup i select add on to a existing domain and type in my username and password and the domain main.nz which is my first problem it says domain not found so i make it main and it gets past that bit. then it asks me what domain i want to join and if i put in main.nz it says domain not found then if i put in main it says do you want to change it to main.nz and i click next and go thought the rest then it has the error as before (cannot contact server) and stops | dwnz2003 (5250) | ||
