| 215681 | 2004-02-15 05:26:00 | Boot into safe mode, run msconfig and remove everything out of start-up. Reboot back into windows and start the troubleshooting. List the programs that are in start-up if you can't evaluate them yourself and someone will tell ya which ones are safe to have running. Otherwise, insert the windows cd and install it over top of your existing install. |

| 215683 | 2004-02-15 05:54:00 | > what have i done this time?? You've posted a thread with no relevant information in the title, which isn't very helpful for a start. PowerScan is a component of ISTBar, a well-known piece of SpyWare/FoistWare, which is also notoriously difficult to get rid of. Info on ISTBar is here (www.doxdesk.com) - other info on manually removing it is available here (www.kephyr.com) That said, SpyBot should get rid of it - if you can get SpyBot to start, make sure you do an update to make sure it has the latest includes as ISTBar morph's itself pretty regularly. Try this as well: Uninstall ISTBar from "Add/Remove Programs" in the Windows Control Panel. Look for an entry named MS AUpdate, MS Updates, XXXToolbar, ISTsvc or ISTBar, SlotchBar, ASWNK. Failing that, post back... there might be something else you can try. |

| 215685 | 2004-02-15 10:16:00 | Maybe you could download the removal tools as suggested by WTF, Download them to your desktop and use the desktop shortcut to run the program. It wasn't that long ago that you wouldn't have to rely on a newbie like me for help, but saddly good quality help is rare on this forum of late, a damn shame really as it lowers the quality of the forum overall. IMHO. Best of luck anyway, and let us know how you get on. DD. |

| 215687 | 2004-02-15 12:27:00 | Let's be fair DumDum Sunday evening isn't the best time to post for quick answers.... There are times when there are lots of PF1 people on line - and the very end of the weekend isn't one of them. Yesterday would've provided far more replies. |
