| 215564 | 2004-02-14 20:51:00 | Hi Team After intercepting well over 2500 virus packages at a rate sometimes exceeding 150 per 24 hour period, last Friday saw only 60-odd and this morning the overnight crop was down to just 7 instead of the usual 80 or so. It looks like we are seeing the end of this particular exploit. Fortunately it has not been destructive or particularly troublesome for those with infected computers but it must have been a nightmare for companies trying to deal with the flood. Only my son's account has been seriously affected, though my business account was getting two or three a day. Our other 7 accounts received none. Must be time for the next one. :( Cheers Billy 8-{) :| |

| 215569 | 2004-02-15 11:23:00 | Not really funny when you consider that some people in this forum really are NEW users. They don't expect "in" jokes from long-term posters who seem to give good advice in other threads. Yes, I installed Gator all by myself at the beginning ( only 10 months ago)And yes, I worked out later it was a problem & I got rid of it.... by myself before joining PF1. But it wasted time I could've spent on better things... So from someone who's still new to people who are even newer - Gator is a spyware menace you don't want/need to install. |

Sarcasm and sardonic humour don't really add to the PF1 experience, and it is very easy to mislead inexperienced computer users. Call me naive if you wish, but I think people come here expecting quality advice and that is what they shoud get. Emoticons won't cut it as warning signs until perhaps we get a skull and crossbones or other instantly recognisable danger sign. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

I know Billy T will be arced up as it's probably not much fun being corrected when you're used to having the rest of the PressF1 hordes swanning around your feet. So if it makes you feel better you can correct my english or spleling or something if you like. I'd be surprised if there were many new people here that weren't scared off by the incestuous clique this place seems to revolve around - I'm not the first to use basic sarcasm and an "in-joke" and I'm sure I won't be the last. Loosen up a little. |
