215485 2004-02-14 09:54:00 Windows XP comes with an on-screen keyboard, though I've got a question...

How would an on-screen keyboard help someone who is blind to touch type? They wouldn't make a difference to using a normal keyboard, AFAIK. I'd actually reccommend a keyboard specially made for blind people, with braile on the keys instead of letters (or both).

215487 2004-02-15 08:22:00 Thanks for reply. As with most blind people, there is minimal vision. An on screen keyboard could be enlarged and suitably coloured to be visible. Albeit with difficulty.

There's also a magnifier.

215490 2004-02-15 10:19:00 if you are lucky enough to have xp pro (not sure about home), there are three utilities that come with xp to enable this. The key combination, windows key and u key pressed at the same time will bring up the utility manager, in there you will find these utilities and some startup options for them.
I have set up the text to speech ( although basic in its functions) for person in a simular situation as you describe

215491 2004-02-15 10:28:00 All those options are available on XP home also Beama,

R_a_7 never mentioned what OS he/she has,so we're just guessing/hoping it's XP.
