Am using Windows XP Home and IE 6 and Outlook Express 6.

Problem -
Used Windows update and it updated IE 6.
Now when I click on the desktop shortcut for IE 6, IE invokes but the screen displays that it cannot find server and goes no further.
However if I then close IE and use Outlook Express it dials out Ok and connects, then I invoke IE and surf as if nothing was wrong.
Then log off, try IE 6 again and again it will not connect, but the Outlook Express trick works again!

It must be so simple but I need some wise directions.

Many thanks,
Peter Mundy

215480 2004-02-14 08:46:00 Have a look under network connections right-click-properties mark.p (383)
215481 2004-02-14 08:48:00 Try going to

Start - settings - control panel (or just control panel cant remember XP) then goto Internet Options and then goto connections then click always dial default connection

Cheers

So is something else.

215483 2004-02-14 09:40:00 As lame as it sounds, set it to Never Dial, click Apply, set it back to "Always Dial" click Ok and see if that resolves it.

Check also in the Connections tab of Internet Options that you do in fact have a dial-up connection in the white box there.
