| 215457 | 2004-02-14 07:09:00 | Stop using your computer immediately as you may overwrite some of the files you want to retrieve . Just hit the off switch and do not do a full shutdown . Take a look at This thread ( . pcworld . co . nz/thread . jsp?forum=1&thread=41491&message=216968&q=undelete#216968" target="_blank">pressf1 . pcworld . co . nz) first for advice then stop using your computer immediately as you may overwrite some of the files you want to retrieve . Do not do a full shutdown, just hit the off switch . Norton is your best bet because you can boot from the CD . If your files are important it is worth the expense . If your computer is not set to boot from CD you can safely start it up and set the bios to boot from CD then hit the reset switch to get the CD running . Read the instructions that come with the file recovery program before you do anything!!!! I have used it, it works well . Others may post with free programs, but ou have to decide how important the lost files are, and every minute you keep your computer running decreases your chances of making a full recovery . IF you don't get them all back, if they were recently written try searching for temp files and Word's wbk files, they often hold recent versions of your documents . Cheers Billy 8-{) |
