215357 2004-02-14 01:43:00 Just bought the new CD from Sounds in Queen Street... Not overly impressed with the "Copy Controlled" label and made sure I could return it if I couldn't use it to do what I wanted.

I like going running, and have bought myself a Nike 256mb mp3 player... you guys can see where I am going with this... I mean, what's the point of an mp3 player, if I can't load whatever mp3s into it??

Why prevent people from ripping to mp3s when on the other hand, two of the largest corporations in the world (Nike / Philips) promote it!? All this copy controlled CD does to me, is ENCOURAGES me to download the album instead!

The hypocrisy really gets to me.

215358 2004-02-14 01:47:00 Sorry - the title obviously should be "NORAH" and not "NORAJ"

And also - flag my little toy chucking rant... CDex is handling it just fine.

215359 2004-02-14 02:01:00 Some drives see right through the copy protection at the hardware level. No special drivers or software is required. Just pop the CD in and encode to MP3 using the software you would normally use. b1naryb0y (3)
215360 2004-02-14 02:18:00 If you have toruble with copy protected cds, you can always have a go with EAC (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) - Exact audio copy. Works perfectly for me and its free ;) PoWa (203)

215362 2004-02-14 05:41:00 Bought one the other day and wanted a copy for the car.Easy CD-DA Extractor wouldn't do a thing, but FreeRip copied it ok,as CDex does too! Neil McC (178)
