What a joke. 700MB could be downloaded in 2 days even with JetStream so what is the use of paying all that money just for two days worth of data.
The limit on my Paradise is 10GB and I almost always use it all up.
You dont have to buy new hard drives either. Haven't you heard of the fancy new storage device called DVD +/-/R/RW/RAM.

215400 2004-02-20 00:29:00 admittingly i didn't realise woosh was 700mb fullstop, i was thinking only international. We use 500mb international, i'd imagine it would be another 500mb of national, but thats uncapped so i don't really know. roofus (483)

In essence I told them to **** off. At the time I joined they had not published any average usage of 700MB therefore how could I have known that I was going to have a 7000MB cap for $65 a month... at that price thier package didnt even compete with that offered by its competition DSL (who needs to get their data faster if you cant get more?).. they then babbled on about how great it is to be able to roam with my connection.. so i asked them if they were goning to buy me a laptop, cos my monitor and pc weighs around 60KG and is a bit heavy/big to relocate. Anyways the tech guy I spoke to told me to just ignore the cap :) as its not like they have an unlimited unlimited package to move me too... 		Bender (4840)

That's what strikes me . . . .

What's more data usage than Unlimited . They advertise it boldly as "Unlimited Data Transfer" and then you read the fine print "subject to reasonable use" .
Therefor, is it no longer unlimited if it is restricted?

Or is the call simply a courtesy call to let you know that you have used over the "reasonable usage" of a supposedly "unlimited data transfer plan", and offer you a "higher usage" plan rather than your current (supposedly) unlimited plan?

This just doesnt seem to add up?
Have I missed even more fine print?

Just consider:

If you owned an "all you can eat" restaurant, and all your patrons were Mr Creasote (from Month Python's "The Meaning of Life", look it up) then nobody else could afford to eat there unless some reasonable expectation of usage existed .

If you want to download 7 GB plus a month, then on behalf of all the "average users" out there I say "do not try and use something that I have to pay the extra cost for" .

Because there are costs, and if you are not facing them then they are averaged out over all the customers .

stream, start, there all the same to me. I'm on jetstart though 128k with orcon 5gb plan.

Chilling when they say its unlimited they are doing what marketers called "puff" and its legal, although obviously a grey area.
700mb in total does seem like a bit of a rip. 		roofus (483)

215408 2004-02-20 07:01:00 Well, I get 34k download most of the time, on various speed tests so:

34kB/sec x 60secs x 60mins x 24hours x 31days

= 91,065,600 Kilobytes a month (divide by 1024)
= 88,931.25 Megabytes a month (divide by 1024)
= 86.85 Gigabytes a month

Now seeing woosh disconnects every 24hours (random anomoly) and factor in some lag or some computer reboots and the fact that your not going to get a server that gives you a constant stream of 34kB/sec.

So probably like 70Gb :p 		PoWa (203)
