215574 2004-02-16 04:13:00 Sarcasm is excoriated as the lowest form of wit. It kinda falls into the "Oh Yeah? You too!" bracket, usually after rational thinking stops and reason is nowhere to be found.

I think referral to Forum Rules 1 & 5 is appropriate here, and a gentle reminder that this is a computer help forum where unhelpful posts are oxymoronic.

We lose too many valued contributors because they weary of the sniping that goes on.

Give it a rest.

Cheers

What do you get out of using words that the majority of the population will not understand? Does it make you feel superior? Get a thrill out of people reaching for a dictionary to understand pompously worded posts?

Ever considered how many people this forum loses over being unable to get into the severely closed minded clique around here? The quashed free speech? The myriad of wannabe mods such as yourself?

Step outside your comfort zone, theres is plenty of rational thinking and reason out here, just because it may not agree with you or your agenda doesn't make it wrong .

215577 2004-02-16 05:02:00 We are all entitled to our own opinions, mine tend to clash with other members on PF1 regularly, but i am still here . . . . . . . (at times not sure if this is for the good of people) .

i think the main point where this post / thread has strayed to is, we should agree that we wont agree on most topics . in other words Agree to Disagree .

Andcan we please stop this constant in fighting,

No body is any better than the next person, we live- we die, remember to respect each other and treat others as you would like to be treated . . . . . . nicely .

and back to My Doom thingie, yes i think it has slowed down, but it doesnt matter the next plague will be upon us soon, past experience has taught me these things tend not to go away, they just get smarter .

215578 2004-02-16 05:06:00 Beetle MyDoom was designed to die on a certain date! The original post was just grandstanding if ever I saw it. mark.p (383)
215579 2004-02-16 05:22:00 Yes i no MP so?

but they tend to just change the name and another virus rears it ugly head to annoy the hell out of us innocent people.....

it wont really change we will always have some brite pain in the bum who thinks it a great joke to infect other people computers, and also to see how much they can annoy MS as well.

It was common knowledge that the virus was going to cease functioning on a particular date.

So why start a thread, 3 days after the virus terminated itself, saying "my logs show this" "my 7 accounts show this" etc etc.

As mark.p eloquently put it, it's grandstanding, nothing more, nothing less.

215581 2004-02-16 05:42:00 How the heck do you get 2500 virus emails!? This is ridiculously stupid and foolish on anyones part.

I'm sure others have said this before: Get one email address, keep it secret, then set up 5 aliases that all forward mail to that account. Now only give people/websites or anything your alias email address. Now when they start sending you viruses, close the flipping alias down!!

Now lets have a song and dance about it. :)

215582 2004-02-16 05:49:00 Ironically only way to be truely free of getting more NT RPC expliots at the moment is not to use an NT Based OSs- ME, win98, win95 a distro of Linux, BSD, Unix, OS/2, use a Mac or ensure they are buried deep behind some form of protection behind the above mentioned or other proprietry platform. mark.p (383)
215583 2004-02-16 08:42:00 Sorry for the late arrival people, had some important business on the way. Better late than never, ay, what never! up.......

Anyway, the problem with having throw away addies is that thingamejig&&@&&hotmail doesn't cut alot of ice with clients. I use a throw away for web sites, etc, but it was one business addy in particular that got hit which, is posted as a contact on a site. More of a pain in the.. than anything because nothing got through and a big waste of time. I have to put up with the risk because it's too valuable a source of income to pass on, my choice. Wont stop me from grizzeling about the perps or the holey software that gives them the oppurtunity.

WTF, if you want to make silly posts then you are bound to attract some adverse attention so don't get all huffy when you do. Thats not to say you should mend your shocking ways (IMHO) but just expect you to reap the fruits of you labour. It's harder to receive than to give.
