Atleast 256k is NEARLY affordable,might be another ten yrs at this rate before its reasonable Cheers! |

You can get around this by registering your own domain name. Then you can redirect your mail to which ever ISP you are with and it always thinks you are the same person and should always follow you. Nobody said that it would be at a loss to Paradise. Telecom said it would offer it at bulk rates (ie lower than you or i could get). It would then be up to the ISP to do their own prices with it. I do not mind paying a little extra for 256 with a 10GB limit but stuffed if I will pay $70 for 256K with a 1GB limit. May as well go for full speed but then I would cut the 1GB out in a few hours and have the rest of the month to sit around and do nothing. |

| 215383 | 2004-02-16 04:32:00 | I guess I'm lucky in that respect having Woosh down here. $65 for a month, for 256/256k, no controlled usage (limiting bandwidth for P2P, FTP, and International gaming) and we also get unlimited traffic, well not quite. |

I also had IHug satellite and got download speeds of over 800KBytes per sec but gave that up as well because of high pings. Also that started out as unlimited but as everyone knows it soon went to limited. |

| 215385 | 2004-02-16 10:05:00 | Ok, so you get pings of 150-250 no big deal. :) Besides they are working on improving the performance at their end and firmware for the modems. Know why??? They have to have it transmitting in 'real time' because in 6 months or so they are going to have phone services over wireless (VoIP?). I can imagine people don't want it to be like using a walkie-talkie. "Uh hello this is Tom, over." "Hi Tom, what you been up to?, over." "Not much, over." "Hey want to go to the movies?" *silence* "Whoops, OVER!". etc etc :p They transmit their stuff through the vodafone cell towers so this is the good **** :) |

| 215387 | 2004-02-18 00:06:00 | Lets say I go with woosh in about two months when its available in my area of West Auckland (Jafa, I know...), and Lets also say that I then download a fair bit of information (or upload) somewhere around 15 gigs. Obvoisly I'll "get a call" from the Woosh people, but what can that actually do? They suggest a new plan AFAIK, but what's more use than "unlimited"? How does that work? Cheers Chill. |
