215338 2004-02-15 05:11:00 Only thing i would do is look on the elitrgroup/ecs page and see if they have released a revison on that model since its release,if they have it would have been for a reason.

ECS make good performing stable boards, they have (just like every manufacturer) released a couple not-so-good boards in the past but the current range is excellent(although i wouldnt bother with the pf-1 board they offer).

This brand of boards did get a fair amount of negative remarks made about their reliability,as far as i can see this was due to 2 reasons.

1.Market share-They are one of the worlds 3 biggest suppliers of motherboards,Shipping roughly the equal amount of boards each month as ASUS.Im yet to see proof that asus boards are more reliable,a quick google search brings up hundreds of thousands of results when looking for asus and problem.

2.Inexperienced users.Due to the excellent performence of the ECS boards and the price ECS boards became a very hot item on the do-it-yourself market,One board in particuler(if i remember the model number ill whack in in later) sold in the millions.Having inexperienced or incompetent people building comps causes a boatload of drama when they fluff it up and start bagging out the hardware instead of looking at their own workmanship. And due to the mainboard of choice being a budget model(and the easyist thing to damage when building a sysyem) the board usually got the blame.

I can get asus,Gigabyte, Ecs and a few other brands all at wholesale and i use ECS boards in all my personal comps.

And all of them perform in the higher range and all are rock soilid.
