215965 2004-02-16 05:30:00 I have a ASUS P4b mb, 256mb sdram pc1333, pentium 4 2.4Ghz.

My problem is the on board sound card "Formerly known as Avance AC97" first there was sound and frankly I rather hear Ricky Martin sing
then hear my sound card. So I downloaded the latest version of the driver installed it now the sound card is known as "RealTek AC'97" and now theres nothing coming out of the dam thing so i looked around the net for technical forums and things like that and the problem is more wide spend then you think and that toke me nowhere I've try finding the offical RealTek no technical support there i've check all my volume control settings the driver properties and all of the other crap and i have turn up with 0% of success and major a headache so and anyone help me

215968 2004-02-16 10:40:00 Where did you get the driver from?

If you didn't get it from your Motherboard Manufacturer's web-site then it prob isn't the right driver.

215969 2004-02-17 01:04:00 WTF is on the money with this one,AC(& is onboard sound and tightly allignes with your motherboard/chipset,the only driver to put on is the one from the manufacters site, and it has to be for your exact board.

Onboard sound is something i never update drivers for.

AC(& should of course be AC97.

215972 2004-02-17 02:30:00 No your not supposed to have the ISA PNP. It has happened to me too with XP and ME. Copied fix (for future use) and is as per below:-

1. Right click the ISAPNP device, and select "Update Driver"
2. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
3. Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install."
4. UNSELECT "Show Compatible Hardware"
5. Be sure that "(Standard System Devices)" is selected under Manufacturer.
6. Under Model, scroll down until you see "Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator". Select this item, and select "Next>".
7. You will receive some frightening error message that you should probably disregard.
8. Complete the installation of the driver. You will see your device list magically change before your eyes. The other PNP devices will mysteriously become enabled and active. If not, restart.
