| 215915 | 2004-02-18 02:55:00 | Hi Guys Forgive me for joining the piece so late.... I run XP Pro and O/E 6 - all latest updates, etc. Some time ago I deleted any ref to Nortons - I thought. However, on odd occasions I get a small box reading as follows: ""Please enter your user name and password for the following server.... Logon Server: 127.0.0.1 User name:.... Passwd:.....'' Reading above re the 127.0.0.1.. **This is from memory, but if Norton has intervened, the "Incoming Mail" will say something like 127.0.0.1 whereas it should point to your ISP** It looks as though I too have a remnant of Nortons. I watch with interest. |

| 215916 | 2004-02-18 04:09:00 | No, the Norton stuff is all gone from the Outlook files, the POP and SMTP are correctly pointed at ihug. I did get some feedback from Symantec and some time ago whereby I went into the registry and removed any remenants of their code, in truth I found non. I think we are on the right track, Norton did somethimg to Outlook, but what is stange is that I couldn't fix it by uninstalling then reinstalling MS Office/Outlook which I did 3 time. Ron |

| 215918 | 2004-02-18 08:34:00 | I mentioned that I had totally uninstalled Norton (System Works 2003). And no difference. I ran like this for over 3 weeks until recent virus scares. ihugs virus scan has been excellent, 100%, in the last few months. However, recently I reinstalled NSW again, only installing the Virus protection module. I did try the disable in each, then both (in and out), to no avail |

| 215919 | 2004-02-18 09:12:00 | Hi. Nortons is prone to leaving buried settings in your system even after it is un-installed. By their nature antivirus and firewalls have fingers in a lot of system pies and sometimes leave dirt behind. have you tried WTF's fix yet? or a registry cleaner? a program that finds stray un-associated files wouldn't be a bad idea either. Good luck Murray P |
