| 215945 | 2004-02-16 04:32:00 | This site is one of my favourites and for the last three days I have not been able to access it. The rss feeds are still working but I cannot open the main site. I have tried IE6, Firefox, Netscape and Lynx text browser on 2 separate o/s's but cannot get in. Please could somebody try and let me know if it is my system that has got something wrong or the site is down. Here is the link: http://www.metafilter.com/ Thanks in advance Rob. |

| 215951 | 2004-02-16 04:55:00 | Here is some news on Metafilter: Current MetaFilter Status: Offline (mssv.net) Reason: MeFi Status Thu Feb 12 2004 Tuesday afternoon, mefi went down and by wednesday the culprit was figured out: a dead processor fan. New fans were ordered (as well as more ram) and are being overnighted to the server location. I'm not completely sure when the new parts will go into the box and bring it back, but it's looking like it will hopefully happen at the end of this weekend, monday at the latest/most likely. - Matt btw, eventually this will become a status blog and is being hosted on a different server, so hopefully will stay up with updates whenever there is a problem on the main server. So hardware problems is behind it. Keep checking the site until it comes on line again. |
