The Linux kernel is the base of the OS and it directs the interaction with hardware and software, memory usage etc. Im assuming the Windows kernel is faily similar in concept. Chill. |

On all versions of windows prior too NT the kernel did it all.. However after NT the kernel only does memory, task & core management. The hardware is handled by the HAL ( Hardware Abstraction Layer ) and other tasks are managed by similar moudles. |
