| 216412 | 2004-02-18 17:17:00 | I have a P4 3.0 in a GA 8ipe 1000 mb. A 120 mb barracuda hdd with Sata operation. 2 x 512 megs ram. (no name, el cheapo!) On start up the memory count is rapidly done, followed by "dual channel memory" and "Hyper threading enabled" Then a long pause (5 seconds) followed by drive settings. I would like to get ridof this pause. Second page (port settings) flies through. Then about 8 seconds and win XP is loaded. Now sometimes (about 1 in 20 starts) the start up locks up after the second page of POST. Sometimes a message , press alt, cnt, del to reboot. On other occasions no message , just the freeze. One hit of the reset button and all is OK. I would like to find out what is causing this freeze. For no reason at all I suspect a memory problem, yet there are no indications of this. I might add all cables are tight and fitted correctly. Jack |
