216293 2004-02-17 20:24:00 Hi Farmdude,

We're missing a fair bit of information here.

Could you please tell us:

What OS
What Modem / Make / Model
Who these "several thecs" are
How long has this been happening.

What did they tell you to Reinstall? Windows? Modem Drivers?

Cheers

Or does the computer just lock up?

216296 2004-02-17 23:20:00 if the modem has changed from rockwell to generic in the device manager listin then that means it's lost it's 'rockwell drivers'........... drcspy (146)
216297 2004-02-17 23:23:00 'rockwell 56k data fax modem' is'nt quite enough information you will need either download and run aida32 which is a diagnostic program which may tell you the exact modem model or ........open the case remove the modem and look on the chipset (black square thing about an inch square) which will have writing idenifying the modem on it......it' might say for example 'rockwell rhd56 1234' or similar............then post that information here and I'm sure some nice person will find the correct drivers for you........ drcspy (146)

216301 2004-02-18 03:52:00 Alright after some searchign you need to do this:

clik this link and download this little application it should give you some more detailed info about your modem.........

www.conexant.com

once you have done that then you can goto the following page

www.conexant.com

then you will need to scroll to the bottom of the page and clik the AGREE button...........this will then take you to the driver download page.......look near the bottom of this page to find the driver you need

your modem will be a HCF or HSF.......you need that little application in the first link in order to tell you this......
